The film does a lot of things right: self contained story, no excessive cgi, a bit of police procedural, interesing characters. On the cons: the plot could have been better, some of the dialogue was too cliched. rnrnOverall though I liked it enough to see it several times. rnrnActuall y this is my favourite movie of the summer. I was really looking forward to seeing Batman, and from a critical standpoint The Dark Knight is a better film, but I found something about the mood and tension in I Want to Believe to be more compelling than The Dark Knight even if the story doesn't completely make sense.

I adored this movie! It was so wonderful to just see the X-Files again. To see the actors (especially Mitch Pileggi!) and hear the music. But the storyline itself was terrific. Dark and spooky and typical X-Files. Even for a non-shipper, it was a great experience.

So bad that any reviewer who suggests seeing for any reason should be fired. All involved should be ashamed. Plot is ill conceived and lacks any X File idea or thought thread that merits spending any time in viewing content. A waste of actors and my time

I'm sure this line has been beaten to death by now but I'm going to say it anyway, 'I wanted to believe' this movie would be sweet, but alas, it disappoints. Instead of seeing anything truly supernatural, monstrous, or straight out of outer space like you would expect from the X-Files, this movie felt like an extended CSI episode, an almost 2 hour one. The movie has an alright storyline, but they drag it out too long and because of this, the movie has plenty of boring moments. If you still badly want to see this, wait for it to come out on dvd, at least then you get the chance to pause it halfway and finish it later, this way you won't get so bored with it...

Well, I was a hardcore Xfiler until now. What direction were these people planning on taking? I didn't want to see aliens w/ telepathy, but I didn't expect this to be what seemed more an advertisement of some religion and redemption of a priest that loves altar boys! Expect lots of drama, bickering back and forth, and bring a pillow as you'll be falling asleep at most points in the movie.

Besides the fact that this movie had Xzibit in it, it's pretty much lame. Did they run out of space in the storage room? Why was this moie put in production. An d what was with that book? Beautiful Wasps Having Sex? I only recomend this if your a hardcore X-Files freek or you just love the music of the Bradac Brothers.

I wanted to believe that this movie would touch on the unexplained and supernatural like the X-Files series did. I did not want to see a movie about a modern day Frankenstein. This movie was disgusting, a waste of time and money and a waste of the actors' talents.

Absolutely fabulous! I suspect anyone who dislikes this movie expected to see aliens or a continuance of the whole "government conspiracy" plot, but you won't find that here! It's still a "must see" for all X-Files fans. Oh, don't leave until the end of the credits, there's a teenie treat for fans of the Mulder/Scully romantic relationship. Enjoy!

Fabulous movie. I agree with Roger Ebert 100%. 3.5/4 stars. Low-key, moody and creepy. Just like the X-files should be!

Very disappointing. Compeletely no mystery. Just a C (or D) serial killer movie disguised as X. This is the end of X-file, and you don't have to look at the backcover of the file. My wife blamed me for bring her to this movie.
